RECENT & CURRENT WORK

HEAD OF CREATIVE PRODUCTION  - JABER AL AHMAD CULTURAL CENTRE (JACC), KUWAIT,  MARCH 2017— PRESENT

  • Established in-house show production unit. Head of team that developed first season of JACC productions 2017/2018.

  • Initiated partnerships and collaborations with world-class directors and designers of theatre and the performing arts.

  • Work closely with the Operations Director and Deputy Operations Director to manage the conception, development and implementation of JACC’s artistic programme.

  • Curation and development of commissions, new concepts and projects.

  • Development of touring and co-production projects arising from JACC’s artistic programme.

FESTIVAL PRODUCER, KUWAIT FILM FESTIVAL - 1st EDITION, KUWAIT CITY, JAN-APRIL 2017

Worked alongside the Festival Director, managed the festival team across all aspects of production and programming to plan and execute the six day festival. 

FESTIVAL DIRECTOR, THE NEST 2016, AL RIWAQ ART SPACE, ADLIYA BAHRAIN, AUG-DEC 2016

Lead role in programming and management of annual project The Nest by Al Riwaq Art Space. The Nest is a month long festival that fully activates block 338 Adliya by way of site specific public art commissions, a public programme of talks and workshops, film and music, and a weekend artisanal market. CO-FOUNDER & CO-DIRECTOR, GREEN CARAVAN FILM FESTIVAL 2009-PRESENT 

A traveling film festival specialising in the showcasing and promotion of social, environmental and Middle Eastern films. Established and headquartered in Kuwait City, with previous and ongoing iterations in Dubai, Bahrain, Doha, London and Kuwait. [website]

PRODUCTION MANAGER, SABAB THEATRE, KUWAIT — 2016 

Production Manager on the Middle East premiere of internationally acclaimed Kuwaiti writer and director Sulayman Al Bassam’s new touring work In the Eruptive Mode: Voices from the Hijacked Spring. 

GUEST CURATOR, NOUR FESTIVAL, LONDON UK — 2015 

Curated the Contemporary Gulf Cuisine event, which showcased the creative culinary work of two leading female chefs from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as part of Nour Festival’s programme of Middle Eastern Arts and Culture. 

ENTREPRENEUR IN RESIDENCE, GOLDSMITHS COLLEGE — 2014-2016 

Retained and sponsored by Goldsmiths College for two consecutive years to work on independent cultural projects, with main project being the establishment of an offshoot of the Green Caravan Film Festival in the UK.

PRODUCER, FUTURE SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL, KUWAIT — 2012 

Produced two editions of the ‘biggest pop-up film festival in the world’ showcasing the best international short films. 

FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER, MUKAN CAFE, KUWAIT 2004-2010 

Established and ran the daily operations of local, independent cafe with in-house arts and film programming. Hub for young artists, students, journalists and activists. 

PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETING, THE MOSAIC ROOMS, LONDON 2013 

Three month work assignment at the leading UK gallery for Middle Eastern arts, the Mosaic Rooms in London. 

UNIVERSITY EDITOR, AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF KUWAIT, KUWAIT 2006-2008 

Institutional university-wide editor overseeing all academic, web related, and social media content.
